Finally, after the 42 months the actor Sanjay Dutt is a free man now. The actor, who was jailed in an arms case related to the 1993 Mumbai blasts was released today from Yerwada Central prison in Pune.
Dressed in blue shirt and a pair of denims, a bearded Sanjay Dutt with a Tilak on his forehead, juggling a khaki bag and a green colored file, he stepped out of the prison on Thursday morning. While the actor made sure to touch the soil of the ground, he also turned back towards the Yerwada Central Prison and saluted the national flag.

“I am here because of their (fans’) support. And there is no easy road to freedom, my friends.”Sanjay Dutt told reporters at Pune airport after his release.
Dutt’s wife Maanyata and noted filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani accompanied him on the way to the city airport. After reaching Mumbai, Sanjay headed straight to the Siddhivinayak Temple then he went to visit his mother Nargis Dutt’s grave.
Finally, Sanjay Dutt reaches home in Bandra where a huge crowd waiting for him outside his house. Fans gather just to catch a glimpse of the actor then Sanjay Dutt addresses a press conference in Mumbai, in which he says-“ I really miss my father today. After 23 years, I have got freedom today.It will take some time for this freedom to sink in. I am proud to be an Indian, that is why I kissed the earth and saluted the Tricolour. Maanyata is not my better half, but my best half. I gave the money earned Rs. 440 in the jail to my wife, as a good husband”.
Sanjay Dutt’s full sentence period would have ended in November this year, but after being granted remission of seven days per month, his date of release was set around February end. The remission was granted to him based on his behavior in jail and the good work that he has done such as hosting the jail’s internal Radio station ‘Radio YCP.’
