Tigmanshu Dhulia is a popular Indian actor, director, writer, producer , screenwriter, and casting director. He was born on 3 July 1967 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, India. He started his career in 1998 with the super hit movie Dil Se as dialogues writer. After that he tried his hand in direction, his first movie as a director was Paan Singh Tomar, which gather the international recognition at the 2010 BFI London Film Festival. In 2012, Paan Singh Tomar won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film and his another movie was Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster which also gained the critical acclaim. Tigmanshu Dhulia acting debut movie was Electric Moon which was released in 1992, after that he was featured in Gangs of Wasseypur which was directed by Anurag Kashyap. In this movie, he essayed the role of Ramadhir Singh.
Tigmanshu Dhulia Early Life
Dhulia was born and brought in Allahabad. His father was a was a judge at the Allahabad High Court and his mother was a professor of Sanskrit. He has three siblings, in which one is a judge at the Uttarakhand High Court and second on joined the Indian Navy. Tigmanshu Dhulia completed his studies from St. Joseph’s College of Allahabad and then he shifted in Anglo Bengali Intermediate College. In 1986, Tigmanshu joined the National School of Drama in New Delhi, where he completed a Master’s Degree in Theatre. In 1992, he got a chance to showcase his acting talent in the movie Electric Moon, after he did Bandit Queen and Bombay Blues.
Tigmanshu Dhulia Career
Tigmanshu Dhulia started his career in 1990, he worked as a casting director in the biopic of Phoolan Devi Bandit Queen. He was also a casting director of the movie Stiff Upper Lips, in which he also did one short role as a stallholder. Tigmanshu started his career as an assistant director in Electric Moon which was released in 1992. After than he switched to television and directed and produced many television serials such as Hum Bambai Nahin Jayenge , Kahani Ek Kanya Ki, Just Mohabbat , Naya Daur and many more. In 1999 Dhulia released his six short films Ek Sham Ki Mulaqat, Hum Saath Saath Hain Kya, Anekon Hitler , Fursat Main and Musafir. For this movie, he received an appraisal of both critics and audience. After receiving so much popularity in small screen, he directed his first movie in 2003 i.e Haasil. This movie was nominated for six awards at the at the Zee Cine Awards and won the best screenplay award. His second directorial movie was Charas: A Joint Operation, its story based on drug cartels. In 2012, he directed Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster , which gave him a new identity and he got so much appreciation for his work. He also showcases his talent in the movie Paan Singh Tomar, Milan Talkies, Jai Ramji, Sultana Daku and Bullet Raja.
Recently Tigmanshu Dhulia was entitled with the life membership of International Film And Television Club of Asian Academy.
