Sushant Singh Rajput has followed suit and set an example by rejecting a deal worth Rs.15 crores offered to him. Last year, Abhay Deol called out a number of celebrities for endorsing fairness creams. He pointed out the wrong example consciously set by them by promoting fairness, and in turn promoting the notion that “fair is beautiful”.
Kangana Ranaut too, has gone on record to say that she doesn’t want to be associated with fairness cream brands. Even if it means losing a lot of money. This was from a fairness cream brand. As responsible actors, it is our duty to not indulge in sending out incorrect messages. We should not, in any way, endorse or promote the ideology of preferring one skin tone over another.
The 31-year-old actor reportedly turned down a Rs. 15 crore offer to be the face of a fairness product . ” The proposed endorsement reportedly required Sushant to feature in six advertisements over three years. But, it’s a ‘no’ from the actor’s end. “He feels that he needs to be responsible about the kind of products he lends his face to, as several people look up to him,”.
Explaining his decision, Sushant told that he is against the idea of promoting fairness creams. Because: “As responsible actors, it is our duty to not indulge in sending out incorrect messages. We should not promote the ideology of preferring one skin tone over another.”
Sushant had made no pretty clear last year after Abhay Deol directed Bollywood stars for their endorsements.
Last seen in Raabta, Sushant Singh Rajput has a busy schedule for this year. Drive and Chanda Mama Door Ke are the upcoming movie in his pipeline. He’s also the hero of Sara Ali Khan’s Bollywood debut Kedarnath.
